I. Recently, the Election Commission announced that it expects the voting percentage to touch 70 per cent or more; a 12% increase to the turn out in the 2009 elections. For 90,000 of these young voters this will be their first election as electors.

71% (770 million) of Indians are under the age of 35, with the average age being 23.5. - However, more than 300 million Indians of employable age are currently unemployed, and just 41 million out of these are registered with employment offices. As such, this is one of the biggest issues in winning the youth vote over.
