Mumbai’s first 100 percent organic store is now all set to change the way South Mumbai grocery shops and eats. It has been just over a year since The Farmers’ Store opened its first branch in Bandra in July 2017, and they have now set shop at South Mumbai’s popular neighbourhood Malabar Hill.

Brainchild of Rahul Pabreja and Mithran Jayan The Farmers’ Store sells everything from organic dairy products, fresh veggies, fruits and a variety of grains and superfood. Both Pabreja and Jayan have been associated with the popular D’Monte Park Farmers Market for quite some time now, and feel strongly for the cause of supporting rural farmers. That’s the reason behind there being no middle men involved in the process of procuring produce for the store. The team visits and interacts with farmers from all over the country to ensure that all produce they sell is organic and certified. “On an average, a farmer gets 15% of the retail price of their produce. Through the farmers’ market, they get 95% of the returns,” explained Pabreja.

A zero-waste store, with a ‘no frills, no packages’ policy; The Farmers’ Store even has grain dispensers, so that one can take what they want and pay by weight, thus making it easier for the store to control waste. The new store is also said to have certain products that will be exclusively sold at the Malbar Hill branch such as a variety of new cheeses and a special raw noodle range. With a more spacious set-up than its Bandra counterpart, this new store is definitely worth a visit.

The Farmers’ Store opened its doors to South Mumbai on December 9, 2018.

Address: Shop no. 10, Ruby Hills, next to Mumbai Store, Ridge Road, Malabar Hill.
