Using NFT For COVID-19 Relief: 2 Indian Initiatives That Are Raising Funds
Fable

The recent past has seen an unprecedented level of solidarity within the Indian community –– to help each other out and to make efforts towards pulling us all out of this darkness. We have seen people verifying leads and sources, looking for hospital beds on-ground, while some are raising funds to provide any resource that may be falling short in supply.

A forward-thinking way of raising funds is through NFTs –– this modern and highly sought-after method of purchasing art has been on the rise. We came across a couple of initiatives, that through NFT art sale, are raising funds to put them towards COVID-19 aid and relief.

I. Cryptoart India Collective

With an aim to contribute to COVID-19 relief funds, Cryptoart India Collective is putting together a collaboration between 40+ Indian crypto artists spread over two drops.

The first one is based on the theme, ‘Life’, where artworks of individual artists will be converted into a larger collage. This will be available on Makersplace. Their second drop is multi-edition, where artists will add a singular element in a given space based on the theme, ‘Symbols of a healthy and safe place for everyone to grow’. This drop is planned to be available on OpenSea.

II. Fable

In an attempt to make good use of the NFT market, Fable is auctioning off artwork crafted by volunteers on OpenSea. The gained funds will go towards community run relief initiatives focused on COVID-19 relief through free oxygen cylinders. Visually reimagined by the artists, the artwork is a representation of 22 Arcana Cards.

One of the charities that will benefit is Polygon, organised by Sandeep Nailwal.
