Dualist Inquiry Returns With A Contemplative New Electronica EP

“This is meant to be thinking music, driving music, music to work to, relax to, or to have a little dance to. It’s meant to be there for you, to help passively and gently coax your mood in a contemplative or upbeat direction, depending on what you’re looking for,” says Sahej Bakshi aka Dualist Inquiry about his upcoming EP Daybreak.

A ground-breaking music producer, a pioneer of the new wave of Indian electronica, a
forward-looking music entrepreneur, and most recently, an emergent multimedia artist – Dualist Inquiry, is a natural shapeshifter constantly exploring new creative territories. He first appeared on the scene when India’s alternative scene was in its nascent stages and was able to create a niche for himself owing both to his handcrafted sound that features a combination of live and electronic sounds as well as the guitar-driven electronica sound that has come to be associated with him.

One of the underground scene’s first crossover artists, achieving widespread mainstream success within just a couple of years, he was able to pave a way for future producers in the electronica music scene.

Known for his melodic, guitar-driven electronica, he is now back with a new EP titled ‘Daybreak’ — a contemplative record that introduces a new sense of journey and evolution to his signature sound. Slated to release on September 16, the 4-track EP traverses a carefully selected range of subtle emotional spaces. At times it’s reflective, childlike and wistful and at others, it’s epic and larger than life.

Daybreak, with its blend of house, indie-electronica, post-rock, and synthwave influences has been intentionally crafted to evoke particular moods, even utility, as music to be heard in the midst of everyday life. It’s fair to say these songs are best experienced as chapters within a larger story; from the exploratory wonder of ‘Discovery’ to the cry for help in ‘High & Dry’, from the cautious optimism of ‘Friendly Voices’ to the epic, conclusive euphoria of ‘Two Worlds’.

With contrasting moods that gradually and harmoniously morph into one another, this EP is also a nod to dancefloor-friendly, four-on-the-floor genres, the kind you’d hear at the very beginning or end of the night. While there’s no official release date for the EP for now, he’s letting us into this world with the first single off the album, ‘Discovery’.
