Qwiver was literally the techno alter-ego of Mumbai-based DJ, Lynston D’Souza. You’d be hard pressed to correlate his ever-smiling, personable nature with the darker, groovier, always experimental zone he’s in when he’s playing. Then again, it’s time we stopped with one-dimensional categorisations and accepted that some books can be just as lovely as their covers. Something of a veteran in the house parties domain, he’s played over 300 private gigs as Qwiver, and been toying with knobs behind the deck since he was 16 but next weekend, he plans to debut yet another alternate personality ‘Blurry Slur’ at Regenerate’s Open Air Music Festival, By The Pier. Multiple Personality Disorder it is, then.
Why the need for a switch?
With Regenerate purely supporting the “deep house” culture, a point came in the recent past where he felt to introduce an alter moniker to structure his versatile music skills.
“Being exposed to some amazing talents with the global music industry such as Max Cooper, Avatism, Hector Couto to name a few, I realized how inspirational and soulful music can be. It made me want to explore new new opportunities and start a project to grow, educate and create memorable moments for my friends and audience who come out for a good night out,” he admits.
