#HGPlaylist || Sachin Kotre

The first time we spotted Sachin Kotre, the stage was set for a debauched filming of sorts. The walls were scraped, the music throbbing and the lights turned low to disguise Sitara Studio’s crumbling interiors.

Still, he was impossible to miss between the fantastic fro, sartorial irreverence and of course, those undeniable dance moves; the man can foot shuffle all night without a sip of liquid fuel.

Our initial plan was to get him to send us a few lines about himself (only to realise we may be able to do it some justice after all) but in order to get a clearer picture, we’ll allow the self description.

”Sachin Kotre was born in Mumbai but he’s grown up while traveling the world. He spent a few years being the most sought after AD for international directors in India from Tarsem Singh to Kevin McDonald however, his work ethics and passion led him to work with Emanuel Lubezki whom he ended up sharing an extremely special bond with.

He directs commercials and video content for his company LensFlare Films in Bombay. He takes public transport, loves lentils, is a keen observer, gardener, sometimes a poet and is currently building a treehouse.”

Here’s a sneak sonic peek into his playlist.

I. Morning bath - What starts the day is hot water and this  foot tapper!

II. Travel to work - The Worli to Bandra bus journey, the people, the fish stench and fight for loose change.

III. Preparing for a shoot - With the chaos in the background of work… an elvis brings back peace.

IV. Cycling/ running/ sweating - I am a funk boy.

V. Dance party - There is no way you cannot dance to this. Angola Power.

VI. This is my thing - James brown and the sex machine: love for life! I want to do my thing man.
