Homegrown X NorBlack NorWhite - No1: Statements

Homegrown X NorBlack NorWhite marks the beginning of a content relationship based on a mutual admiration society we have going--for colours, ink, fabric, creativity and of course, the people that mould them best. This first edition is all about statements; collated and compressed into a ‘Round The World’ collection of statement styles being worn by (largely) statement people.
Here’s what the yin-yang duo had to say about this image collection:
”We first started going through our vault of images that we’ve pulled from the last couple of years for looks that caught our eye. Then moved into looking through our regular street style blogs and found some new ones along the way! The best part about clothing or style is that you can make any statement you want with what you wear- whether it’s the character you chose to be that day, your mood, how you’re feeling or even the opposite of that! Statements can be made through colour, the cut/fall of a garment, overall styling or even the smallest details.
It’s for you to make it and for others to catch! We’ve selected images based off the fact that the folks wearing these looks would make us turn around and look twice. They’re making statements and doing it well!”

About NBNW:
NorBlack NorWhite’s philosophies develop from appreciating the past, questioning the present and creating for the future. Raised in Toronto, Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar moved to Bombay in 2009 to explore their Indian roots. Traveling across the country while being exposed to its many disappearing art forms, NorBlack NorWhite was born out of a desire to re-interpret these ancient practices of textile design, while making them stylistically relevant to their own lives.
Mashing up their love for Michael Jackson, the Cosby show and all things old and gold, with their love for classic Indian textiles, their line has retailed in Creatures of Comfort New York, Los Angeles, Bombay Electric, Anthropologie and boutiques in Japan, Portugal, San Francisco, Australia and more.
It’s partly an anthropological experiment, part art and part fashion.
