Listen: Zokhuma's Tomorrow Will Be Better (An #HG Exclusive Release)

Zokhuma aka 21-year-old Arman Menzies has been leaving an interesting trail of crumbs behind him in his musical adventures. The broken bits’ pattern suggests a scattered approach despite a background that left him with a more one-dimensional reputation. Once the guitarist of Goddess Gagged (still a cult favourite in the country) he’s spent the months since their mutual split experimenting with his own sound like a kid in a sandbox and the result—his upcoming EP—is expectedly filled with child-like wonder. Being something of a Homegrown favourite, we’ve had the good fortune of listening to the entire EP however, today is all about whetting your appetite. Tomorrow Will Be Better is the first track up for release and true to its name, it’s likely to leave you in eager anticipation of his next release.

Homegrown Loves: The atmospheric moods he plays with and the unpredictable path it paves for itself. Though the track starts off with tell-tale influences, the unpredictable drop in between kept us intrigued and let us know that he’s already beginning to find his own sound and infusing it well.
Artist Speak: “Tomorrow will be better is probably the oldest song on the EP. I remember writing the main bit of the song when I was waiting at a shoot at 5 in the morning. I think it’s my personal favourite track too. It was one of those tracks that I started and it maintained a good flow right until I finished it. I used a lot of samples of breaking metal, wood and glass to form the percussion in the song and I knew I wanted this weird middle section that would just drop and then pick up again.”
