This Stunning Copper House Is The Perfect Weekend Getaway From Mumbai

The Copper House
The Copper HouseArch Daily

Located in Chondi, Maharashta, The Copper House stands on a foundation of three architectural principles. The first being the creation of two individual blocks, varying in width by a foot, separated by the stone-paved courtyard on ground level, and brought together by the roof on the upper level. The two blocks serve as personal spaces on the upper floor, one is a bedroom and bath, and one has an additional study. However, the family room on the ground floor is adjacent to the main living area and is lacking in the confinement of the bedrooms. The living space functions as the deck of the house, overlooking the landscape and courtyard. The private spaces, covered by copper panels, lend a sense of intimacy and privacy, two factors essential for domestic interiors. The house also features a traditional courtyard flanked on all four sides by pillars.

The inclusion of water in more than one unique way - the well, the pool beyond the house, and the stream is one more feature that makes this house so covetable. Lastly, the layering of light through several distinct materials is perfect for differing degrees of privacy. This is executed with screening devices made of fine netting framed in crafted wood, sliding and folding wooden windows among other similar features.
