Grab Dinner At Sea - Mumbai’s First Ever Floating Hotel Just Opened!

Right out of a Hollywood movie about the rich and famous stands Mumbai’s latest addition to the gorgeous Bandra-Worli Sea Link stretch — the AB Celestial. A luxury yacht that positively oozes of exclusivity and glamour, meet Mumbai’s first-ever floating hotel that allows patrons to wine and dine in style.

Targeted at international as well as local tourists, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation launched this venture in association with WB International Consultant and AB Hospitality. Conveniently located at the Bandra Jetty, the three-tiered yacht will cater to all kinds of clientele with their dining options. A 24-hour coffee shop will be located on the ground floor, followed by a banquet hall on the first, and the second floor will consist of an extravagant lounge bar, while the sky lounge and dining will occupy the open terrace area. Oh, and lest we forget, another vital part of the experience includes the 360 degree view of Mumbai and the Arabian sea.

This concept may not be the newest idea on the block, considering Goa, Kerala and Kolkata already have their own floating diners. But in Mumbai’s defence, the yacht (built in the United States) was ready in 2014. It was due to several issues regarding permissions required from the Government that it got delayed until early 2017.

Although the AB Celestial is said to be able to host upto 660 members, perhaps availing of their online booking system would make more sense, to avoid disappointment. Mark your calendars, for they open their doors to the public from March 15 to 20, to test the waters, so to speak.
