White Owl Just Launched India’s First Locally Brewed Bottled Cider

Although surveys have shown that Indians love hard liquor like vodka, whiskey, and rum, craft beer culture has firmly taken root in the country. A revolution that has taken India by storm these past few years, the craft beer scene revealed that India is home to companies run by young creatives who are extremely passionate about bringing something new to the table by exploring flavours and hops that large, hegemonic corporations are comfortable enough not to do.

Founded in October 2014, White Owl is one such company. With sheer hard work, quality brews, and its eccentric white logo depicting an owl’s eyes, White Owl has become one of the most recognisable and popular faces of craft beer in the country. From smooth Belgian whits to American Pale Ales, this company’s brews can be found bottled and ready to be sampled in over 600 eateries all over Mumbai, Goa, Delhi, Pune, and Bengaluru.

Now, White Owl is venturing into another underrepresented drink: cider. After its whopping success on taps in Mumbai and Pune, Ace, White Owl’s Apple Cider Ale, will now also be bottled and sold. This first-of-its-kind, locally brewed cider is “armed with a bold sweet-apple finish [and] brewed with champagne yeast, which gives it a unique, bubbly appearance and is perfect for those who prefer slightly sweeter, less bitter brews,” says the company.

At the cheap price of Rs. 90, Rs. 120, and Rs. 140 for 325ml, White Owl patrons can find their favourite cider in bars and retails stores in Goa, Bengaluru, and Mumbai respectively. For people in North India - do not worry, White Owl is coming to Delhi soon with chilled bottles of Ace and cans of beer soon!
