In Pictures: Lockdown In India Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

It’s Day-7 of the Government mandated nationwide lockdown. The Coronavirus scare has pushed back all activities considered normal in the day to day lives of Indian citizens.

Everyone that used to thrive on the magnetic energy of the busy city streets is now confined to the four walls of their house. The city of Mumbai, also known as the city that never sleeps has seen deserted streets after a very long time. A month ago, the Government approved all restaurants, malls and venues to remain open for 24x7. The lockdown has pulled a blanket of inactivity over the entire city and some of these pictures are proof of that.

A deserted Connaught Place is perhaps more of a shocker to residents of Delhi amid all the COVID-19 news. A place that never shuts is suddenly bereft of any activity, save for some pigeons and dogs that are enjoying this human-free environment.

We take you through India under lockdown in a series of pictures.
