COVID-19 Lockdown: Maha Govt. Extends Lockdown Due To Increasing No. Of Cases Recorded Daily

The Modi Government on 25th March 2020 had announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown to prevent further spreading of the novel coronavirus.

The Maharashtra Government had earlier started considering extending the lockdown owing to the alarming rise in the number of positive cases in the state.

Now the State’s CM has announced a lockdown extension till 30 April minimum.

“The lockdown will be extended till April 30, that’s a minimum. I am emphasizing the word minimum because we need the people’s co-operation to break the cycle. People should not come out unless absolutely necessary. Do not crowd markets and cooperate, and only then we can tackle this by April 30, ” he told the media. You can read more here.
He has assured citizens that essential services will continue as usual. Further urging people to stay indoors and help fight the COVID.

With people returning to their hometowns from big cities, smaller districts like Buldhana and Amravati have seen a considerable spike in cases. Small cities like Nagpur are reporting fresh cases every two days and even recorded its first death due to COVID-19, a 68-year old patient.

Mumbai is recording new patients every day with dwindling resources. A lot of NGOs and charitable organisations have come forward to aid the situation along with government funds being allocated for the same.

The official announcement of a nationwide lockdown extension is still pending. The PM is holding video conference meetings with State leaders and his cabinet members before he addresses the nation.
