The ministry has prepared a detailed concept note on the National Sex Offenders List and a module for the list is being developed under the Central Citizen Portal in the CCTNS project, which is under discussion with stakeholders that include the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
The decision was made after accepting major recommendations of an expert committee that was set up last year to look into cyber crime and to suggest a solution to this issue. The ministry announced two major steps that the government has taken up in order to stop cyber crime along the lines of the US system of Internet Crime Complaint Centre (IC3).
"In principle, approval of minister for home affairs has been obtained for two schemes: scheme for setting up Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) with an estimated cost of Rs 464.28 crore from the allocated budget of MHA, and a scheme for setting up Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC) unit with an estimated cost of Rs 244.32 crore (from Nirbhaya Fund)," the affidavit said.
