40-year-old Adimaya Tamang breaks down as she sees her broken house. A single mother, with two children the house and her livestock were her only support system. All her livestock died in the quake. "The only thing left in this world for me is this piece of cloth I am wearing. " @actionaiduk formed a committee of locals to distribute aid to all the 150 houses destroyed in the village. Phalame, Kabre, Nepal.
"Inside an India Air Force rescue helicopter, on our way back from Sindhupalchowk, 9-year-old Suresh Tamang looks on while his father Mirghe stares outside the window. Suresh's left leg is bent like a bow and his forehead and left eye is swollen after a portion of his home fell on him. A technician in the helicopter asked them if they have eaten anything. Too dazed to respond, the young man didn't wait long enough for them to answer and offered Suresh a Dairy Milk bar. The boy from Singerchya wanted a sip of water first and offered him a bottle lying under the seat. Unable to open the packet he insisted I do the needful and feed him the chocolate bar."

An earthquake survivor walks past a damaged home in Sindhupalchowk. The worst affected district in Nepal, Sindhupalchowk recorded 1400 casualties and the number is expected to increase as rescue teams gradually make their way into the district's highly inaccessible pockets.

April 27, 2015: A woman struggles to breathe in Ghampedandha. Her home collapsed on top of her, and she was buried under rubble. Her neighbours rescued her, but she inhaled so much dust and debris that she cannot stop gasping for breath. The emergency response team recommended that her family take her to a hospital, but her family is worried that they do not have the means.

April 27, 2015. Two brothers, Iman and Isan Gurung, follow the cremation rituals of their beloved mother (who lost her life being trapped inside their home in the Balaju area) at Aryaghat, Pashupatinath in Kathmandu. In the background we can see people crying out the last rites of their loved ones. Families are facing trouble at the cremation grounds due to lack of wood and manpower to carry out the cremation process.

Tens of thousands are trying to escape the capital city of Kathmandu. Fears of possible epidemic outbreak from the bodies that continue to be buried under the rubble and rumours (floating in Indian media outlets) of a possibly bigger Quake and a flood are causing unnecessary panic. The air rescue operations have ended. Some 20-30k people are now being evacuated on buses that have arrived in Kathmandu from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Indian embassy officials in Kathmandu clearly had no idea how to handle the situation at the airport or the bus terminals. I'm really sorry to say this but they are clueless while managing this situation. Spent half my day trying to get a friend, who fractured his leg, to get aboard one of the Indian Army Sortie's to Delhi. Through mayhem we finally pushed our friend, who laid rest on a trolley and into a safe zone where he was escorted to the plane.

Prem Bahadur collects food relief from Team Tarp, as he shows them the way around his collapsed home in Mali Gaon, Bhaktapur district. These are hard to reach hamlets perched atop high hills, North East of Kathmandu. Out of the 47 homes in Mali Gaon, 15 are completely levelled and others are damaged severely. We distributed a few Tarps (plastic tent roofs), food and medicines but we fell short of Tarps and a team will be going back with more relief to Mali Goan. Thankfully there are no casualties here.

Travellers huddle outside the Tribhuvan airport in Kathmandu as temperatures drop during the night. A huge exodus in progress as thousands of locals, tourists and workers are trying to exit through the country's only International airport. I spent close to two hours waiting for Spice Jet plane to taxi because of a massive congestion of planes landing simultaneously. The airport can only accommodate so many aircrafts at a time and due to cancelled flights many have landed a few mins apart. Food and water are scarce. For bottled water, the shop outside the airport has only Evian to offer for about $5. Taxis are scarce at night and some taxi drivers may charge ridiculous amounts. Best way to is to share a cab and split the cost.

A search dog refuels after a successful mission in the Gongabu area in Kathmandu. The US, Israeli and Nepalese army have managed to rescue people from the ruins with the help of search dogs and drones.

Husband and wife, Rabindra Shrestha and Sanu Shrestha with their 6 month old son have been living in this tent in Nikosera, Bhaktapur after the house they were renting was damaged by the earthquake. Originally from Hetauda, they came to KTM to find work about a year ago.

The bodies are still trickling into Aryaghat, cremation grounds at the Pashupati temple in Kathmandu. The numbers have subsided considerably during the last two days. As opposed to the second day of the quake where more than 152 bodies were cremated, that exceeds the number cremated during the People's War.
