The landmark events of 26th June in the past week have triggered a domino effect for LGBTQ rights around the world. The United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favour of same-sex marriage, thereby changing the definition of marriage in 50 states. This victory towards equality and freedom was celebrated by many countries including India, even if we lag behind immensely in our acceptance of the LGBTQ community. But a country which joins Saudi Arabia in criminalizing homosexuality has taken some pretty perplexing and fast-track measures for one part of the community--Transgenders.
