An AI Art Series Depicts Extra-Terrestrial Cultural Convergence In Goa

Disha Bijolia

The land of music and football, Goa doesn't just  present an astonishing diversity of endemic species, habitats and ecosystems, but also people. The cultural diversity in Goa, seen in its large Catholic, Hindu and Muslim communities and multi-religious places of worship, attracts a large amount of tourists, as does the newer and more famous party culture that the state is often associated with.

Ravers that have made Goa their temple will tell you that it's a wondrous and magical place that feels out of this world. So it's not really out of order when it is imagined with literal aliens. Rajvi Sheth, a visual artist and creative consultant, has created an AI art series depicting Goa as a shared state between humans and extraterrestrial beings. They are seen chilling at the beach just like any of us like to do when we're there, enjoying a day in the sun by the ocean in our blue-green planet.

WHERE CULTURES & FREE SPIRITS CONVERGE

Here's how the artist describes the series, "Goa a land of liberation, where different cultures have converged throughout history; a place where people from all the planets came together to this beautiful coast, drawn by the spirit and energy it offers. Species from every corner of the galaxy have heard of this magical place that has provided so much to so many civilisations. But perhaps this is just a delusion, a fanciful dream. Or maybe there is a different kind of energy that exists here, a celestial body where wanderers and free-spirits gather.

Goa, as the world imagines it today, is a place where we are truly connected to each other, a free and harmonious society."

Rajvi used Photoshop and Midjourney, a popular text-to-image AI art-generating program to create the series along with her own imagination and her love for Goa. She has always been a creative exploring fantasies,"I was an unreasonable kid, you simply couldn’t tell me that unicorns were not real or that one day I wouldn’t glow with the stars. If I dreamt something I knew it would come true. Sure I have never seen a unicorn but there’s still time."

Where Cultures and Free Spirits Converge is an extension of a place that is already a prime diverse vacation spot where people from around the world come to let loose. It just invites us to imagine what if beings from other planet came here as well?
