Some things in life are worth the wait — like the perfect cup of coffee, a killer punchline, or in this case, Good Things Take Time, the latest album from Adi & Dishaan. This 10-track beast is the result of a year’s worth of meticulous fine-tuning, and a labour of love that showcases their chemistry like never before. The album that swings effortlessly between moody introspection and full-throttle, hands-in-the-air bangers — an anthem for late-night escapades and self-reflective 3 AM drives alike.
Adi, Bombay’s own rap virtuoso, brings his signature blend of swagger and sharp lyricism, while Dishaan lays down infectious hooks that burrow into your brain and refuse to leave. His production shines throughout the album, with layers of groovy basslines, crisp drums, and lush guitars creating an irresistible soundscape. Meanwhile, Adi’s confident, cheeky delivery provides the perfect contrast to Dishaan’s smooth, honeyed vocals. The result is a project that’s fresh yet nostalgic, intimate yet danceable, and has all the ingredients of a softcore rave.
Artists like Pharrell, Timbaland & Justin Timberlake that define the 2000s along with newer collaborations that have bubbled up between people like Kaytranada and Aminé played a role in shaping the album.
"We wanted to create a soundtrack that follows you through your night out — from the pregame to the club to the drive home. The album is reckless, it's fun — it's the feeling of getting your heart broken but having all your friends around you that care about you, and still having a good time with them."Adi & Dishaan
Good Things Take Time is an extensive and versatile body of work with some cuts that stand out as instant classics. Midnight is the kind of track that sneaks up on you with Dishaan’s buttery-smooth production paired with an earworm of a chorus, all while Adi delivers verses dripping with charm. It’s a club-ready groove with a rare balance between new-age slickness and old-school warmth. Then there’s IDK — a slow-burn, smoky number that drips with sensuality.
Doing this project with Adi opened Dishaan up to the possibilities he wasn’t aware of before. "I felt really boxed into the idea of what you have to do, as a ‘singer-songwriter’ and the type of music you need to make. Working with him helped me tap into my own instincts and stop shying away from just feeling confidence in my abilities and talent", he shares. Adi was navigating musical blocks as well. Before working with Dishaan, he felt like he didn't have the knowledge to do a lot of the things he's been able to together with this album. "He was definitely the enabler in putting out a sound we resonated with at a global scale from our bedrooms in Mumbai", he reflects.
"We both individually have very different sounds, and through this collaboration we’ve each tried to come to a middle ground that feels like a new space for us. We were both keen on making something new to ourselves so this was really perfect timing to make something together we wouldn’t have separately."Adi & Dishaan
It is this same synergy one can expect in their lives performances. The duo is taking the album on tour with their first show on February 14 at antiSOCIAL, Mumbai. The artists will open their set with All Falls Down where Adi’s brazen and slick rap marries Dishaan’s sweet vocals & upbeat production. The unreleased track UMAMI will also be making the list. You can look forward to an electric chemistry, seamless back-and-forths, and unexpected antics including leaving a voice note to an audience member’s ex during Missed Calls.
Their first show is aimed to be little glimpse of the party that is the album. And it just happens to be on Valentine's Day in case you're looking for a fun date.
