Independent musicians Yudee and Ish Singh are bringing their latest project, '444', to the big screen with a theatrical premiere that transforms a music release into a five-chapter science-fiction film. Independent artists have often stretched the possibilities of the music video format, and Punjabi artists Yudee and Ish Singh are taking that ambition to a much larger canvas with '444', their latest collaborative project. Conceived as a self-funded cinematic music film, 444 sees the duo expand their practice beyond songwriting into long-form visual storytelling, building an original science-fiction universe that will premiere on August 6 at PVR Cinemas, Ambience Mall, Gurgaon through a theatrical screening, listening party and live performance. The project marks an ambitious new chapter for the collaborators as they continue to push the scope of independent music releases in India.
The story opens with a shadowy alternate version of Yudee stealing a mysterious duffel bag before disappearing, setting in motion a journey across surreal mountain terrain. Armed only with the bag and memories of a woman, the protagonist finds himself pursued by silent 'Space Cops,' surviving roadside ambushes, battling alien-like adversaries and pushing through exhaustion in search of a sacred monastery. Each act expands the mythology surrounding the glowing object hidden inside the bag until a final confrontation culminates in a blinding flash that brings the story to its conclusion. Structured through chapter titles including Back 2 the End, The Arrival, Dawn 2 Dusk, Ghosts Don't Die, Elixir of Truthand The Redemption, the film builds a complete fictional universe that extends beyond the conventions of a standalone music release.
The project builds on the long-running creative partnership between Yudee and Ish Singh. A rapper, singer and songwriter from Jammu, Yudee has built a catalogue that moves between melodic Punjabi pop and hip-hop, with releases including 'Who Else', 'Darjeeling', 'Orange Juice', 'Madam Ji', 'Tera Naam', and 'Ear Candy'. Alongside him is Ish Singh, a producer, songwriter and recording engineer from the National Capital Region whose production has shaped much of the duo's collaborative output. Drawing inspiration from Western hip-hop while staying rooted in their North Indian heritage, the pair have developed a sound that balances infectious hooks with introspective songwriting, reflecting a partnership that has continued to evolve with every release.
