There’s been a point in everyone’s life that they wished they could be transported to their own magical island escape. There are some necessities for a fairy tale island, however, namely sun, sea, sand, a stunning view and of course, absolute exclusivity. While this would have been a distant dream for us, luckily enough we stumbled upon Suvarna Sangam, a private river island homestay. A brilliant yellow coloured village this place truly is a private mini paradise in its own right, oozing a rustic old-world charm while having all the luxury amenities we’ve become so accustomed to. The best part? It’s a pet-friendly property!
Nestled in coconut groves with the mighty Suvarna River all around, the picturesque hidden home has a total of three rooms split between two floors and also offers stunning views from their private deck by the river. Spend your day lounging in the sun to the rustling of swaying coconut trees with each passing breeze, watch a beautiful sunrise or sunset from the gazebo and if you’re lucky you may even spot some jellyfish floating by.
Located in Tonse East, a village in the southern state of Karnataka between Mangalore and Udupi, this is an ideal spot for those seeking some peace and solitude away from the city – although Mangalore is less than 45 minutes away, and Malpe beach close by.
We’d suggest opting for the lovely Mangalorean-style food prepared by the hosts as there isn’t much else on offer in the vicinity. At approximately ₹6,500 per night (plus taxes), this little-known paradise is worthy of a spot on your travel bucket list.
Book your stay here on their Airbnb page.
