Google Takes Mumbai's Bhau Daji Lad Museum Online With Interactive Exhibits & Walkthroughs

People from around the world will now be able to experience highlights from the museum's rare collection of early art and design from the late 18th to the early 20th centuries. The historical institution boasts of a Radha-Krishna sculpture carved in ivory, a diorama of Emperor Jehangir on a lion hunt, and a 1928 painting of a court scene by renowned artist MV Dhurandhar. Apart from this, the contemporary art exhibitions displayed at the museum, specially curated virtual exhibits, Museum View and many other treasures of the museum, will all be available to experience with just a few clicks.
The institution will enable a virtual tour into six galleries within the museum, including the industrial arts gallery, the 19th century paintings gallery, and the Kamalnayan Bajaj art gallery. Users will not only be able to do virtual walkthroughs, but enjoy an enhanced experience with the help of several features.

Artefacts can be viewed up-close in ultra high definition thanks to Google’s zoom features. Users can explore each piece in extraordinary detail and experience it far beyond what is visible to the naked eye. Then there's the View Museum feature, which allows users to take a 360-degree virtual tour and explore the museum digitally.
Further, specially curated virtual exhibitions have been developed for online visitors to discover interactive online experiences. The stories of the restoration and revitalisation of the museum, as well important contemporary art shows like 7000 Museums: A Project for the Republic of India by Atul Dodiya and the ZegnArt Public/India artwork by Reena Kallat will also be made accessible to users.
