Here's How You Can Report Domestic Abuse During The COVID-19 Lockdown

Homegrown Staff

The coronavirus pandemic and the resulting lockdown in India has forced everyone to stay indoors. At times like these, a lot of victims of domestic violence and abuse get stuck with their abuser and seldom get the help they seek. Most states have dedicated women’s distress helplines in police stations. If you dial 100 to report your situation, you will most likely receive immediate help.

We have compiled a list of helpline numbers that should be useful if you or someone you know is facing abuse during the lockdown.

Domestic violence cases in India have increased since the lockdown was levied on 24th March with husbands venting their frustrations on wives, who have no escape from their abusers, say experts.

The National Commission for Women (NCW), for instance, received 58 complaints from March 23 to March 30, according to data accessed by PTI.
