#HGSessions || Arsh Khan

Homegrown Staff

There are these monochrome memories that swim about in my head when I think about Arsh Khan, or ‘Deeeej’ as I like to call him. We have a 7-year-long history of never-ending adventuring. Cross-border roadtrips, all-night debauchery and mountain smoke make the initial cut, only to come back to the city and indulge in our other favourite routine. Namely, lazing in his balcony room above the noisiest street in Bandra as he tested out his music-spinning skills on all of us—his now-deaf lab rats.

But what he owes us in hearing ability, he more than made up for by sculpting our eventual musical interests. Plus, the deal was usually sweetened by Punjab Sweet House Samosas for munchies. I’m aware that this sounds like the incoherent ramble of a drunk, old man but what i’m really trying to convey is this: Arsh Khan knows his musical shit. So if you’re in the mood for some exploration, this is probably one of the best HG sessions so far.

Here’s what he had to say about it:
“So this one is more than special to me. This was put together for a special someone called Mandovi Menon. It’s some stuff I don’t usually get a chance to play and this was the perfect opportunity. She’s been a part of my musical journey pretty much from the start and has seen the entire transformation of my sound for a little over a decade. Here’s to you Mando.. Happy Birthday!”
