#LaughAtDeath In This Moving Comedy Act You'll Probably Never See Again

Shireen Jamooji

In a country where people are so uncomfortable talking about death, what’s the best way to start a public conversation about it? The answer: you laugh about it. End Of Life Care India has started the movement #LaughAtDeath, where patients of palliative care take the stage in the most moving and hilarious stand-up routine you’ll ever be a part of.

Palliative care provides terminally ill patients with every possible comfort to ease their transition and try to make their last days their happiest. Unfortunately only 1 in 100 patients in India have access to the basic pain relief and care that they need. Not only will they ensure you live out your days in comfort but it can also ease the strain on families who are unsure of how to approach a deadly illness.

In the #LaughAtDeath act 4 terminally ill patients have been coached by some of India’s leading comedians and they let the audience in on the moments of levity they experience in their every day lives. They bring a level of candour and sass that would rival even the most seasoned performers and as they make light of death, they remind people that they are so much more than their disease.
