This Indian State Is All Set To Get The Country's First Hyperloop

The Hyperloop; a system that accelerates a passenger or cargo vehicle at airline speed through a steel tube in near-vacuum using a linear electric motor is no more only a work of science-fiction with proposed Hyperloop projects being announced globally.

According to to this report by the Indian Express the Andhra Pradesh Government just signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) to develop this fifth mode of transportation in the state, making it the very first in the country as well. If successful, this Hyperloop will connect the two cities of Amravati and Vijayawada and reduce the one hour long journey between them to a mere five minutes. HTT has said that the first phase of the project will involve will a six-month feasibility study which is to be commenced in October. While the second phase of the project proposes to construct and build the first Hyperloop in India. As reported by the Economic Times this public private partnership (PPP) model, with funding primarily from private investors will cost a little over $200 million of investment and take a year to complete.

If this project is successful it will definitely put India on the global map for the use of green technology.
