Meet Hip Hop & Bharatanatyam At The Cultural Confluence of #HybridBharatham

Meghna Mathew

If it wasn’t already difficult enough to get ‘What’s Poppin’ by Jack Harlow out of your head, this dance video by Usha Jey and Orlane Dede is sure to make it impossible.

In a blend of Hip Hop and Bharatanatyam, this funky yet graceful choreography will keep you hooked till it ends, as you bob your head to the music throughout. Choreographer Usha Jey calls it ‘#HybridBharatham’ and says that this is her way of mixing two styles that she loves. The video is the third episode in her series of creating a fusion with the two dance styles.

Accompanied by Orlane Dede, the two girls are clad in lively yellow sarees as they manage to translate their love for dance into a smile on our faces. An amalgamation of culture, fun and passion, this episode of #HybridBharatham is share-worthy.

Check out this episode with the rest of the series on Usha’s Instagram.
