Movie Theaters, Malls & Gyms To Remain Shut - Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka Govt.

In the wake of the recent pandemic of coronavirus, not only is travel banned; cinema halls, gyms, and some malls have issued statements that they will remain shut till 31st March. The total number of cases reported in India, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is 83.

PVR Cinemas has issued a statement that they would be shutting all operating movie theatres till the end of the month in Kerala, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir

Delhi Government announced that all schools, colleges, and public places will remain shut till 31st march. Citizens have been advised to stay indoors and not organise mass public gatherings until the virus is contained. Delhi has faced a huge spike in the infected cases in just a matter of one week.

Bengaluru is facing a similar shutdown of cinema halls, schools, and colleges. However, exams for class 7-10 will be held as per schedule. A 300-bed facility exclusively for Coronavirus patients will be prepared in the coming days. As the first death due to COVID-19 was reported from Karnataka on March 13, this has only increased the security measures taken by the officials.

Maharashtra government announced today that all gyms, public swimming pools, and auditoriums will remain shut in Mumbai, Thane, Navi, Pune, and Pimpri Chinchwad Mumbai from midnight till 31st March. Maharashtra has recorded a total of 14 cases in the past week. Despite releasing a statement that cinema halls will remain shut, the Govt. Maharashtra says that theatres and malls will remain open while all the political, religious gatherings and sports events are banned. The Govt. has stated that isolation beds are available in all districts of the state and that there is no need to panic.

The State Government of Punjab has ordered cinema halls, gyms and all public points of gathering to be shut till the situation is contained. Cases in North India are increasing with each passing day.

With all of these public avenues being shut, we hope the virus is contained within the allotted time frame. Time is of the essence as the WHO has said that it is a containable infection if proper action is taken at the right time. Stay indoors, stay safe!
