Halloween is the best holiday of the year, letting us dive into alternate universes by dressing up and getting down on the dance floor. You can escape your everyday life and lose yourself in the extravagant costumes and vibrant energy of the ghostly night. Its sole downside is that it happens only once a year, cutting the fun short way sooner than we’d like.
This year, we’re extending our favourite holiday season with our Halloween pre-party. Join Homegrown and Casa Bacardi from 9 pm to midnight on October 11 at the Liberty Cinema for a film screening, spooky cocktails, a musical performance, and an after-party that will leave you more than satisfied before the 31st rolls around.
Built in 1947, the Liberty Cinema is a relic of our past in the heart of Mumbai. The theatre ushered in a new era of cinematic experience 77 years ago as India’s first cinema to use a digital projector. Today, it embodies the luxury and opulence of a bygone Mumbai with its masterfully preserved cedar interior and classic art-deco design.
Fall into a time machine as you step through Liberty Cinema’s grand frozen-fountain doors and enjoy a movie on the same silver screen that brought us some of India’s most iconic films. Powered by the global streaming platform MUBI, we’re melding the past and the present with a showing of the 2021 psychological thriller, The Humans. The film delves into a family’s deepest fears on the eerie night of their reunion and is sure to get you into the creepy Halloween spirit.
After the screening, party with the ghosts of Bombay’s past and dance the night away with live music and themed drinks to boot. We expect you to show up and show out, so get your most creative costume ready, grab your friends, and join us for an early taste of the Halloween fun.
