As we celebrate 70 years of Independence this year, it is important to keep in mind the divide and the history behind one of the largest migrations in modern human history. In regards to the same, is the Museum Of Memories, a collaborative pop-up museum that will be packed with discussions, performances, screenings, exhibitions, and much more — all united by the common thread of Partition. Spread over 3 days (August 4, 5, 6), the event will be split into two attractions: Exhibitions across the Godrej One campus and performances, discussions, showcases, screenings and more in the Auditorium at Godrej One.
The event is free and open to all but the auditorium programs will be based on a first-come, first-served basis. The exhibitions will consist of art installations put together by the likes of The Partition Museum, GCPL Design Lab, partition stories of those who settled in Sindhi camps presented by the School of Environment and Architecture, and more. A museum of ‘ordinary objects with extraordinary memories’ will also be on display. The Indian Memory Project, The 1947 Partition Archive, Riverside School Ahmedabad, The Godrej Archives and more are all contributing towards the same.
A special preview of ‘Partition: 1947’ will be screened at the event on August 6, ahead of it’s all India release on August 18. Other films such as Lyari Notes, Mammo and previews will be screened too. For more details on the event, please click here.
