Mumbai, We’re Bringing A Night Of Japanese Culture To Bandra’s Pioneer Hall This Weekend

One Night in Toki-O' is a window into the timelessness of Japanese culture.

Japanese culture has always lived in a balance between reverence for tradition and a bold embrace of the new. This September, that spirit comes alive in Mumbai as One Night in Toki-O, powered by Toki Suntory Whisky and Homegrown, brings together music, food, art, and fashion in an immersive evening inspired by Tokyo’s timeless energy.

At the heart of the experience is music. Mumbai’s own Zokhuma — Arman Menzies’ boundary-pushing electronic project will deliver a set that traverses ambient textures and propulsive beats, while Prithvi Shetty, the young producer weaving hip-hop, R\&B, and lo-fi atmospheres, adds his distinctive voice to the night. The city’s vinyl community also finds its stage, with The Revolver Club curating a listening session.

For food and drinks, food and drinks. Supa San, the manga-inspired izakaya in BKC led by Chef Hideki Hiwatashi, will host an izakaya pop-up alongside a sando counter, reimagining Japanese street dining for the Mumbai crowd. For something sweeter, Ritual will bring a dedicated Matcha & Dessert bar, highlighting the delicate yet powerful flavours of Japanese tea traditions.

On the fashion front, Styl-O-Label, the Shillong-born streetwear label rooted in hip hop and workwear culture, will host a showcase and live screen-printing sessions, merging street style with personal expression. Meanwhile, visual artist Nikhil Kapil will set up a Japanese art studio, adding a contemporary graphics to the night. Rounding off the night are arcade games, highballs, and unexpected pop-ups designed to transform the venue into a living slice of Tokyo.

One Night in Toki-O takes its name from 'Toki' — Japanese for 'time'. And that’s the guiding force of the evening: an exploration of how the past and present converse, and how cultural traditions can be carried forward through reinvention.

One Night in Toki-O will take place on Saturday, September 27, 8:00 PM onwards at Pioneer Hall, Bandra, Mumbai. Get your tickets here.
