Pet Therapy - This Delhi Startup Is Bringing Dogs To Your Doorstep

Shireen Jamooji

Nothing cures work frustration better than a wagging tail and some floppy ears. While you gaze longingly at your screen hoping for those four-legged love bugs to cure you of your career-induced misery, one Delhi start-up is working hard to make that dream a reality. Our new heroes at Fur Ball Story are trying to make therapy dogs a reality for the first time in India.

The idea first came to founder Animesh Katiyar when his Law College brought two Labrador puppies onto campus for the benefit of the students. He noticed people were more cheerful, attendance increased and the overall atmosphere of the campus and hostel was brighter. Together with his friends Srishti Sharma and Arushi Dixit they did some research into the matter and found that pet therapy was a common practice in the West.

In December 2016 they kicked off their first project with Cocoa, a Shih-tzu, Angel a Golden Retriever and Muffin, a Labrador Retriever and 6 humans to accompany them. Working with offices, start-ups and Universities the Furry Army came to destress and with all that furry joy around, they succeeded!

Today their goal is threefold, they still want to increase productivity, but they’re also trying to encourage people to adopt and familiarise them with dogs to reduce incidents of animal cruelty. They’re also providing therapy sessions at hospitals and at home where these super-pooches come and teach awareness, patience and love. They’re even willing to help their pups become superstars, so if you need a well-behaved canine for an ad or photoshoot, Fur Ball Story is the place to go.

So next time the ordeals of Delhi life seem too much to bear, give them a call and have a bundle of puppyness delivered right to your doorstep and feel the troubles melt away.
