Pharrell Is In India To Celebrate Holi And Launch His New adidas Collection

Shireen Jamooji

Holi 2018 just got even bigger. We’ve been waiting for the release of the new Pharrell x adidas collaboration on the HU Holi line since January and now to make it even more of a celebration, Pharrell has made his way to India to join the party. In a special hat tip to the Holi, India will be getting access to this beautiful new range a full two weeks before the rest of the world and to mark the occasion, actor Ranveer Singh - as another adidas representative and huge Pharrell fan - is throwing an all out Holi bash. After all the months it must have taken designing the line, Pharrell is going to get up close and personal with the spirit of Holi.

Inspired by the festival the Hu Holi collection consists of unisex adidas Originals apparel – including T-shirts, track tops, shorts and track pants and a brand new range of footwear in Holi-inspired colours. The iconic adidas Originals return in three variations, a classic black coloration with sublimated powder dye effect on the inside collar, and secondly one with the sublimated uppers to take on the powder dyed aesthetic, all complimented with reflective laces, and two powder-dyed iterations of the PW Human Race, with contrast-color lining and a marbleized effect on its stabilizer. The sleek Tennis Hu PD pairs its color-crazy sublimated print uppers with a crisp white leather lining.

Sneakers birthed a culture that was a lifestyle rather than a mere fashion statement, it crossed borders, classes and cultures and with the introduction of ‘Hu Holi’, it’s taken yet another step towards representing all its diverse consumers. Though Holi is innately Indian, it’s quickly become a worldwide celebration, since the core values of joy, colour and positivity are ones that transcend religion, much like sneakers themselves. With their signature style and familiar ethos, the Hu Holi line is on the fast track to becoming the footwear of choice for people that think that every day should be Holi.

Available from 1st March at adidas Originals stores at Linking Road (Mumbai) and DLF Promenade (Delhi) and online shop.adidas.co.in
