Pride Circle Launches A Global Online Campaign For Queer Awareness

Homegrown Staff

Social distancing protocols around the world have put all the pride events and pride parades on hold. To commemorate the LGBT+ Pride Month, 2020, Pride Circle, India’s premier Diversity & Inclusion consulting firm, has taken an initiative to build a community of LGBT+ allies by organising a #21DaysAllyChallenge around the world. Under this global campaign, LGBT+ allies are being engaged in a series of mini-challenges spread over a period of 21 days as a homage to the community. The challenges are aimed at bringing about awareness about the LGBT+ discourse through movies, literature, music, art, LGBT+ laws around the world, and coming-out stories, amongst various other verticals. The objective of the event is to make people take conscious steps to identify and extirpate prejudices and stereotypes regarding the LGBT+ community, and therefore enable social change to create a long-term impact. The programme has so far enrolled 5000 individuals from 33 countries. Nearly 100 national and interactional organisations (educational institutions, schools, MNCs, workplaces) have also come out to support the initiative.

It has been a year since Article 377, a draconian British-era law criminalising homosexuality has been abolished. But the LGBT+ community still struggles in gaining social sanction both in the professional and personal spheres. Pride Circle, in engaging people all over the world in an educational endeavour to make them aware of the various struggles of the LGBT+ community, attempts to bridge this gap, and liberate the community from the historical marginalization that it had been subjected to since ages.

The registrations for the challenges are still open. Deadline to sign up, refer and complete the 21 challenges is 11:59 AM IST on July 01. A new challenge will get unlocked on weekdays (Monday-Friday) at 12:00 PM IST. You would be logged out if there is no activity on the challenge page for 2 minutes.

You can write to them on contact@thepridecircle.com if you want to register your organisation/group for the challenge.
