Samyukhtha Sunil

The music that is emerging from the Indian scene today is deeply intuitive and is backed by a powerful sense of storytelling. Bengaluru-based Tarang Joseph’s latest single has been the newest addition to a slew of exciting releases that have dominated the limelight this year.

Superhuman is a collaborative effort of Joseph, Mary Ann Alexander and Ranjani Ramadoss. The refreshing, upbeat track traces the ephemeral journey of self-doubt, curiosity and the anxieties that plague the evolution of an artist. Taking notes from his own journey, Tarang wrote Superhuman as an antidote to those doubtful, uncertain moments which eventually helped him find his feet and his voice as a musician. The track captures the magnificence, the strength and the uninhibited power that one experiences in overcoming such creative hurdles.

Tarang brings his own influences from the extensive training in classical jazz and soul in creating a refreshing new amalgamation of R&B, hip-hop and soul through Superhuman. The stirring songwriting is complemented by Mary Ann’s vocals seasoned with the smooth, unmissable flow of Ranjani’s rap. The track which took nearly nine months to complete was mixed by Amrith Raghuraman (Doc.Awes) of T.ill APES fame.
