The Best Of Design, Architecture, Art & More: HG Academy Brings You A Complete Masterclass Series

Homegrown Staff

When we were asked to be creative in our childhood years, most of our humongous, wild ideas were too big to fit any boxes. As children, we were uninhibited and so were our ideas. And, why not so, for, if bound by rules, is creativity, creativity at all?

And then we grew up and we started being put into boxes. Somewhere, our creativity started being judged — by ourselves and by others. It started being measured and ranked and we started fearing our own creativity.

Constructively, one might think — who set the precedent for that to begin with?

Luckily, a lot of us now have been able to answer the question and tell ourselves that absolutely no one should have the power to curtail creativity.

One of the smartest men to have walked the Earth, Albert Einstein himself once said, “Creativity is just intelligence having fun.” Now, we wouldn’t want to argue with a genius, so we take his word for it.

In 2020, beyond just being ‘intelligent fun’, creativity is also the solution to most problems. Technology and design are closer than ever, almost rivalling art and expression.

We could give you examples from recent years of how this has been possible, but we are far from being experts. Having said so, Homegrown does have a few people in mind who were made for this, and will readily address all curiosities regarding creativity and its use in innovation at HG Academy.

This time around, we didn’t come prepared with just a singular mentor — we have a dynamic line-up of 4 pioneers in a special HG Academy series! We bring you the Masterclass Series with leading creative and innovation changemakers from India. In an elaborate attempt to connect India’s leading innovators and creators with consumers for creative solution-oriented learning, the first series is complete with five exclusive sessions for you to contribute to the creative revolution. It all goes down on 30 and 31 October 2020, so right about now would be a good time to register!

At a time when our physical spaces are confined and movement is stifled, the only constant in our lives is our own creativity. For a while, we, at Homegrown, have been toying with the idea of evolving our platform into a space that inspires generations to believe that their paths are not limited and that there is a world out there where creative industries are thriving. Our sole motivation behind this attempt is to shift the needle in the Indian creative industries, and this is exactly where the idea of HG Academy comes to fruition.

The aim is to deep-dive into the creative process, new ways of learning, re-imagination of old ways and experience and learn more. As we spend our days inside our homes and within ourselves, HG Academy, with its commune of creative thought leaders and pioneers, teaches you the basics that you might not get access to elsewhere. We hope for it to evolve into a culture of creation, collaboration, discovery through an exchange of thoughts and ideas.

We made sure to cover all bases of how creativity is the key to push India forward in its innovation and creativity game, and we hope that our masterclass mentors will only help you expand your horizons.

Maker’s Asylum’s vision of a makers’ space focussed on fostering innovation through purpose-based learning ties in perfectly with her ideology. We could go on about her work and achievements, but it would truly not do her justice, so we leave you with the fact that her focus remains on ideas that are interdisciplinary in nature and also how they must be put to use.
