The Music Festival In Guwahati That’s All About Self Exploration

Achal Khanolkar

The rolling hills and the serene landscapes of the North-East are not the only reasons to make a trip to this mystical region this month. Forkaal - A two-day music festival is slated to be held at Gauhati for the very first time. Running across multiple genres, this festival is happening on the 23rd and the 24th of September. The gathering will be headlined by the Polish death-metal band ‘Vader’ who make their much-awaited debut in India and will also feature some of the best homegrown talent that the country has to offer.

Conceptualized and put together by LAC, ‘Forkaal’ is named after an assamese word that literally and figuratively translates to ‘The calm sky after a rain’. The festival is based on the premise of self-exploration, facing one’s inner demons and the freedoms of escapism. The gig is divided into two separate themes to encapsulate the transition of feelings from darkness into to the light.

Vader will be joined by Indian metallers Demonic Ressurection, What escapes me & Kryptos for the ‘Dark night’ that’s slated for the first day. The second day is called the ‘Clear Sky night’ and shall feature Girish And The Chronicles, Aswekeepsearching, Lands, Dossers Urge, & Polar Lights among others.

You can buy passes for the festival here. For more information on the festival, visit their Facebook page here.
