This Facebook Group For Pooches Is What All Indian Pet Lovers Need

Payal Mohta

There is a new pet group on the block (we don’t think there can ever be enough!) - Scoobled for all kinds of pet related shenanigans. Scoobled is a Facebook group that engages in everything from discussing pet related health, behaviour, travel, adoptions, foster homes, as well as spreading awareness on issues (and GIFS!) related to our four-legged, furry friends.

Inspired by the movie Hachiko, Scoobled was the brainchild of Delhi-based Mandeep Singh who wanted a platform for pet parents or just folks who are allured by any kind of pet activity. A place where they can pitch in together, share and discuss matters together! He started a group on Facebook and added all his friends who have pets. Today Scoobled is barely a year old and has over 4,000 members!

Scoobled has done events like SAVE THE PAWS - in collaboration with PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Society, Vasant Kunj) for various free anti- rabies vaccination and awareness camps. Scoobled has made some remarkable achievements like the procurement of a funding of 2000 dollars for Friendicoes and PAWS - a huge contribution for voiceless animals who love us more than their life.

For Singh, “there’s nothing like the feeling of a stray being adopted.” All their adoption posts clearly state that there will be house checks and that no breeders will be entertained. Scoobled maintains a database of all adoptions that have taken place on their platform and also encourage the new owners to send pictures and videos on how the pooch is doing.

Singh believes in quality more than quantity and that is why Scoobled is a closed Facebook group. If you wish to join the group send them a Facebook request and you will be approved by one of the admins. Their long term plan is to launch a Scoobled app, a one stop for all doggy queries like adoptions, events, foster homes, and day boarding. So if you’re a pet owner in India, hoping to become one, or just a fan of puppy-watching, this might be the place for you.
