Three Days Of Yoga By The Sea At A Quaint Goan Retreat

Nikita Jaiswal

Sea facing cottages–octagonal in shape, built with mango wood, and covered with palm-thatched roof– lush gardens, and delicious organic food, all just a few sandy steps away from the Arabian Sea, are awaiting your arrival in the sun drenched paradise of Goa. If you’re struggling to stay awake post lunch at work, and need some R&R stat, register for the Anahata retreat to save yourself from drowning in your 3rd cup of coffee. In the famous words of a very articulate Tom Haverford - ‘treat yourself’.

Located on the pristine Ashwem beach, Anahata is a sea-front property with plush gardens and airy yet cozy cottages that lend themselves to an earthiness that is so very characteristic of Goa. A peaceful, detoxifying stay that will soothe your soul and refresh your mind, the three-day retreat is the answer to all your mid-week woes.

If the visual simulants of an expansive blue sea and silver sand aren’t enough to titillate your stress-ridden mind, fret not - the best is yet to come. Balance, calmness and serenity are at the core of this experience, and to help facilitate your ascension to a better state of mind, Lara Saluja and Lamya Arsiwala will be your instructors for the duration of your stay. With their belief that Yoga is imperative to leading a fulfilling life, the two women will be overseeing and holding classes carefully curated to promote wellness.

In the midst of the rustle of the palm trees and the mesmerising ebb and flow of the sea, the Anahata Retreat forms the perfect backdrop to teach mindfulness through the power of Yoga. With a degree in Movement Arts, Lara focuses on the manifestation of physical and emotional energy in movement, and how the way you move coupled with meditation can positively impact both your mind and body. While usually teaching Aerial Silk classes at a studio in Bandra, Saluja is taking both her expertise and infectious energy to the great outdoors in this immersive retreat.

Similarly, Lamya, a proficient teacher of dynamic Yoga and and soft Hatha Yoga, will impart to you her knowledge and vast experience with wellness practices. Her understanding of how Yoga brings you closer to consolidating your sense of self and feeling fully present in the moment will strengthen your mind and steady your nerves. The objective of the retreat is to disconnect from the incessant noise of the outside world and turn an introspective eye within yourself through daily classes of asana, meditation, inversion training, movement, new thought and ecology.
