Furmaish's Pet Furniture Is Designed To Make Your Furry Friends Feel Right At Home

Disha Bijolia

My home renovation that I started eons ago is finally coming to an end. With new furnishings around the house, it's shaping up quite well but there's one thing I can't seem to get rid of or replace - a worn-out cardboard box, courtesy of Amazon, sitting in the middle of my living room. Interior designers suggest mixing up two or more design styles to make your space eclectic but I'm not sure where a scratched up, bent-out-of-shape cardboard box fits in; mid century? farmhouse? Matters not to my cat for It is his throne, fortress, and bed. So imagine my delight when I stumbled upon Furmaish, pet furniture brand with pieces actually designed for our furry overlords.

Founded by Anam Taufik who runs her eponymous design studio, Furmaish is a blend of Scandinavian, Swedish, and Japandi aesthetics, something the designer is known for in the spaces she creates. Handcrafted in India from high-quality, pet-safe wood, Furmaish’s pieces are sleek and cozy, and they fit right in with a modern home without screaming 'cat furniture'. Unlike most pet furniture that are just smaller versions of human furniture, Furmaish actually keeps our furry friend in mind in their design intersecting intentional functionality and style. After all, cat furniture is only cat furniture is he/she is allowed to scratch it.

Pawndulum Wall Clock, Catcus Wall Scratcher

Most of Furmaish's piece with a scratcher. Like the Catcus Wall Scratcher that's shaped like a cactus, complete with a natural jute scratching post that’s perfect for your cat’s claw-care regimen. It also has handy hooks for all hanging your pet’s (or your) favorite accessories. Then there’s the Pawndulum Wall Clock a whimsical piece crafted from 'cat-approved' wood with a playful mouse pendulum. The swings every hour are meant to summon your cat for a swat, turning timekeeping into a game.

The Snuglitude, as the name suggests, is a a tent-shaped foldable bed for some feline alone time with a built-in scratcher, play bars, and even integrated food and water bowls. Compact yet luxurious, it’s practically a mini cat condo that fits snugly into any corner, keeping your pet cozy and content without cluttering your space. The ChicLoo litter box is a total game changer. With an elegant arch design and a pull-out drawer for easy cleaning, it’s a litter box you won’t mind showing off.

Snuglitude, Bark Board

The brand's journey might have started with the founder's pet cat Meowth but they haven't forgotten dogs. The woof-top bed comes with an extended built-in food and water bowl for the post-lunch comas. The Bark Board is a little shrine for your best friend with a hook for the leash and a shelf for their pictures and toys.

Furmaish, in its practice crystallizes the love and consideration we all share for our pets. We may not birth them ourselves but let's be honest we're still moms and dads. We don't want them to be spoken about as a sub-species, we don't wanna leave them alone for too long because "they're just animals" and we don't want them to feel not fully at home just because they ruin the couch sometimes. Furmaish's pieces aim to invoke the same sense of belonging through its craft and design so that you and your pet can live in purr-fect harmony.
