Bangalore - Head Here For Vinyl Sessions, Pop-up Bookstores & More This Sunday

Cara Shrivastava

“While the virtual world, Internet as a concept and knowledge bank amazes me, the appeal of reading a book, keeping a craft alive or writing letters with a pen can never be replaced,” says Rohini Kejriwal, the curator and creator of The Alipore Post. An online newsletter, comprising of poetry, art, music, literature, GIFs and other interesting things that Rohini finds on the internet, The Alipore Post is now hosting an offline event for its lovely community!

Hosted at The Humming Tree in Bangalore, the offline events were curated to create a real-time interactive experience, that could have been relevant even before the digital era. The event promises to be one heck of a big, happy party, for people who enjoy art, poetry, music, games, literature, and in general, learning and experiencing new things. Being an avid collector of every possible facet of art, it comes as no surprise that Rohini would have also collaborated or interacted with the artists behind said art. “I’m really grateful for the support and appreciation I’ve received over the last two years. It has somehow enabled events like this to happen! There’s an element of beauty and magic in how organically these collaborations have taken place. This upcoming event has some new collaborators, and some old.”

She goes on to explain how she stumbled into each artist, through random interactions, or workshops, or even at open houses, or pop-up stores. The Alipore Post Offline this weekend, has a bunch of events in store — an Analog Photography Workshop, a DIY Block Printing Workshop, a Poetry Slam, a Popup Bookstore, a Vinyl Session, Traditional Games, and of course, ambient music by DJ MastaJusty.

As of now, Rohini is looking forward to hosting these events once every few months, and is considering an Offline in Bombay, Delhi, Pune and Calcutta, in the future. She says coyly, “All in good time!”
