Papaya Pads addresses the discomfort and environmental harm caused by mainstream sanitary pads. Using patented bio-coagulant technology, they offer a skin-friendly, sustainable solution free of plastics and harmful chemicals, ensuring a rash-free and eco-conscious period experience.

I was watching a reel yesterday and it was brought to my attention that most of the sanitary pads sold in mainstream markets marketed themselves to be cottony smooth, but none of them actually used cotton as one of the materials to make the pad. This marketing mislead has led so many women to have rashes and discomfort through a time of a month that is already uncomfortable.

On top of that, these pads are terribly unsustainable because of the materials they’re made of. Most sanitary pads are made of plastic wrappers, backsheets and absorbent materials, none of which are not bio-degradable. And to try to steer away from these unsustainable pads, women end up using other ways of dealing with their periods like menstrual cups, which are also extremely uncomfortable. (Imagine a container being shoved into a tiny entrance of your body and just having to go around living your day as is).

Papaya Pads is trying to solve all these problems. Founded by engineer Shagun Maheshwari it's trying to put women’s bodies and our planet both at the centre of their products, the former which is shockingly never really done while developing a product required for a female body.

Papaya Pads is made using a patented bio-coagulant technology that clots blood which keeps the surface drier so that you have a leak free period experience. Made without any plastic or fragrance to ensure that it is skin-friendly and you can go through your period without having a rash flare up down there. Some of the chemicals used in are also endocrine disrupting which can directly affect hormones and reproductive health.

Papaya pads are also sustainable. With their planet forward approach, each pad is wrapped in a bio-degradable wrapper. They are ensuring that their pads are designed to break down naturally, decompose and are free of toxins, and making them better for the environment.

It is no joke that research about women’s bodies and reproductive health is severely under-funded and under-explored. Papaya Pads is doing something revolutionary in its little corner of the market by putting out a product that is made for women and made by women, for the toughest days of their month. Talking about our bodies has always been ridden with shame and with a constant sense of frivolousness, but there is nothing more empowering than having a product that makes you feel comfortable and more confident in yourself.
