Soraya Doolbaz is a professional penis photographer. You could call it fate, or you could call it unsurprising when almost every woman you know has had their online inboxes indundated with dick-pics at some point or the other. Doolbaz just decided to actually do something with them. The Iranian- Canadian artist from New York set the ball rolling in various art exhibitions when she came out with her photo-series titled ‘Dick-tators of History and Friends’ that was featured in Art Basel in Miami. Rather than letting the poor penises remain lonely in her inbox, she decided to dress them up and give them a high-fashion, artistic makeover that would put the Princess Diaries to shame.
“I was born in Iran and now I live in New York. Back when I was single, I would get a ton of dick pics and my friends would get them, and we would show them to each other and some dick pics were better than the other ones, and I thought, ‘what if I took them with a professional camera?’ And then I was walking through a Walmart and I saw a couple of dolls. I just kind of put two and two together and thought I could create a personality out of penises,” she said in an article by Fstoppers.

“Some were better than others,” the 35-year-old artist told The Huffington Post. “Some had better lighting. I think it’s better to stage a dick pic rather than just shoot it in a bathroom stall. “I was really interested in camera angles as well — I like a good POV — but boner quality is also important. I can’t believe some people send a picture of a limp dick.” In the interview, she mentioned that she only works with couples and the partner puts the clothes on the penis while ‘fluffing’ the penis. She said that once the penis became a character, it became desexualized especially because it was in a hat or sunglasses.

With Donald ‘The Dick’ Trump being the most popular photo in her series, the humorously titled dick-tators like ‘Napolean Boner Parte’, ‘Kim Dong-Un’, ‘Adolf Clit Tickler’ and more are equally ballsy. In an interview to Metro News, she said, “My project is called Dicture Gallery and it’s exactly what it sounds like, d*ck pictures,’ she explains, adding: ‘In the spirit of humour and glorifying the whole d*ck pic phenomenon, I decided to treat the whole thing like a high fashion photo shoot by putting clothing on penises.” Doolbaz started shooting penis portraits over two years ago after a flash of inspiration. “My goal with all this was to make people laugh,” she says. ‘I wanted to create comfort and confidence around sexuality for men and women. ‘Men should be proud of their d*cks…women and gay men should have no shame in enjoying them,” she said. In many interviews she observed that although female nudity is easy accessible through art and media, male nudity didn’t have a platform.

Soraya collects clothing and accessories from dolls and action figures and has almost 32 hard-hitting photos in the Dicture Gallery. She also began selling the prints and merchandise like coffee mugs, and realised there was a big market for adult products like these. Besides these, she also raised funds for a Testicular Cancer Foundation to give a new aspect the male health dialogue and is now working on a coffee table book.
