Meghalaya’s Garden Of Caves Is A True Paradise On Earth

Where is Paradise, you ask? In the midst of a remote, quaint village in Sohra, Meghalaya. Known by the locals as Ka Bri Ki Synrang, the Garden of Caves is situated 10 km from Laitryngew region near the Laitmawsiang village of Sohra, and is perhaps the most breathtaking spot we have ever come across. With flaura and fauna of all kinds and colours, and a total of fourteen waterfalls that fall into crystal-like ponds, this park is perfect for a quiet retreat and an escape from the noise of crowded cities into the greens, blues, browns and whites of nature.

The park is surrounded by an actual, dense jungle rather than a concrete one and interconnected with curling vines in place of cell tower receivers. Walk into gorgeous caves lightened by nothing but the peeking rays of the sun. Spend a day here getting a stunning view of the towering, mesmerising waterfalls as you walk across the bamboo bridge of the park. As if it doesn’t sound enticing enough, the entry fee to the park is no more than Rs. 20, with an additional 20 if you wish to carry your mobile phone with you into the park. We suggest you skip the latter, though – leave all your troubles behind and absorb the magic that is the Garden of Caves.

We recommend: Drive from Shillong or Cherrapunji to Laitmawsiang to enjoy breathtaking views. Carry your own lunch to enjoy by the water.
