Leave One To Take One At Delhi’s Unique Metro Library

Utter the word ‘free’ around a group of Indians, and you’ll have their pulses racing faster than Sukhbir’s Ishq Tera Tadapave ever could (okay, this might be debatable). But you get the idea. It doesn’t matter what it is that’s free, we will gladly take it. Normally, these items come along with groceries, and are of little interest to us — but there’s been a recent game changer and we want in.

HUDA City Centre Metro Station in Delhi has a library set up with some simple rules in place. Rather than borrow a book to return it like a usual library would function, all you have to do is leave behind a book to take one! It’s basically a whole book shelf for the taking, with no lengthy registration process or the threat of late fees looming over your head. That’s one heck of a way to keep the reading habit alive.

The library is located on the First Floor, so if you’ve missed your train or have some time to kill — stop by, leave a book or two. If you don’t have a book to leave behind, you can always sit around and finish the book you’re interested in reading, right there and then. The library opens at 11:30AM and closes its doors at 8PM. Let’s hope more of these libraries begin popping up around Mumbai, soon! Till then, we’ll just have to make do. (Very, very grudgingly.)
