Since it’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show early in 2017, gearheads have been marvelling at the beauty and precision of the McLaren 720S, a successor to the wildly popular 650S. Though rumours have been flying about McLaren’s official entry into India in 2018, we haven’t had a taste of what’s in store, until now.

The first 720S has finally hit Indian soil thanks to Mr Ranjit Sundaramurthy A.K.A RSM from Facebook page Supercars India. After being delivered to Dubai, RSM had it transferred to his hometown of Bangalore where it proudly stands in his garage which already houses supercars like the Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari 488GTB and the Lamborghini Huracan among others.

The 720S is faster, lighter and more dynamic than its predecessors. With its carbon fibre body and an aluminium space frame it shed 18 kilograms and creates 50 percent more downforce compared to the 650S. The four-litre twin-turbo V8 engine can generate 710 hp of power which allows it to go from 0 - 100 kmph in as little as 2.9 seconds and tops out at 341 kmph in just over 21 seconds, the closest you’ll ever get to a road legal F1 car.

All 400 units of the 720S launch edition have already been sold to buyers around the world and McLaren aims to create another 800 before the year is up. Although RSM may have the privilege of being the first person to let her loose on the Indian roads, we know that this only marks the beginning of a long and intense love affair India is set to have with McLaren. Though finding a road to open her up to her full potential is going to be the first challenge. Ministry of Road Transport...are you listening?
