Anyone that has been for a live music gig in Mumbai will probably agree that it’s not always a pleasant experience. Nobody wants to pay an exorbitant amount to get stampeded by crowds who proceed to drown out the music with endless chatter. For the many indie musicians in the city, it’s always a challenge to find a place willing to give them a slot and a chance to make their mark. This is where Patio Unplugged, by The Lazy Patio Films (TLPF) comes in. They aim to help promote and further the Indie Scene in Mumbai and later, across the country by creating playthrough music videos and promotion of artists.

In their first season they have tied up with 20 indie artists and bands each with a two-track set which will be transformed into music videos as well as a live set for the listening sessions. TLPF has paired up with Habitat Comedy and Music cafe as their venue and for some artists they will be hosting live listening sessions where you can go and enjoy the experience first hand. This venture is funded by the artists and TLPF who have a genuine desire to change the face of the indie music scene. For too long the only people who could draw a crowd were big name artists playing commercial tunes but the popularity of lesser known talents are on the rise.

During this season they’ve hosted artists like Awkward Bong, Tejas Menon and Kanchan Daniel and the Beards to name a few with many more lined up for the future. They hope for this to be the beginning of an extended experiment to reignite the indie music industry and are happy to consider any artists for future performances. So if you’re a performer looking for a space, an audience and an unforgettable music video then Patio Unplugged are the people to call.
