A contemporary visual artist whose experiments with shapes, lines and colours continuously capture our imagination, Sajid Wajid Shaikh is back with his second solo exhibition, Amygdala Anomalies. More of an exhibition, this is a collaborative audio-visual immersive experience like no other. Shaikh has always been far from ordinary and conventional in his expression. His body of work features the surreal, inventive and abstract, with music being a great inspiration to his creativity.

Over three years Shaikh created a repository of otherworldly characters and he brought together fourteen musicians and sound designers for this audio-visual project including thebigfatminimalist, Cosmic Attic, Echofloat, Spryk, Colorblind and Riatsu, to name a few.

Set to take place in Mumbai this weekend, each character is brought to life with their own soundtrack, every one of them distinct and unique as each musician breathes life into Shaikh’s character through music and sounds. Describing the upcoming exhibition Shaikh says, “As an experiment, Amygdala Anomalies seeks to explore the constant conflict between fear and fascination – invoked by the unseen, unheard and unknown.”

The showcase put together as a bring-your-own-headphones experience and viewers provided links to access all the soundtracks on their phone. As they walk around they can experience all the 14 artworks displayed on screens accompanied with the track created for them specifically. Every half an hour there will also be one artwork featured along with its track over this three-day exhibition, as well as three ‘secret’ performances by Lawntuba, Zanuski and Cowboy and Sailorman.

The Exhibition is on from March 30 - April 1, 2018 in Lower Parel, Mumbai.
