The Toto Music Award Is The Perfect Platform For Upcoming Artists – Apply Now

To be young, driven, and passionate for the arts can either be a curse or a blessing—either way, the finances are not always in your favour. The internet might have made it easier to forge your identity as that of an ‘emerging’ artist, but to navigate through today’s crowded creative landscape, and make it to the top, is still pretty daunting. And no number of opportunities can ever be enough for today’s youth which is constantly in pursuit of success. Recognising this, Toto Funds The Arts (TFA) has recently announced their 15th annual music competition for emerging musicians in the country.

Every year, the Toto Award For Music invites applications for a competitive country-wide music hunt open to musicians and bands across all genres and linguistic affiliations. This year will be no different.

From jazz to heavy metal, the competition encourages contemporary artists singing in their regional languages to apply. However, if you’re going to be sending an original composition written in an Indian language other than Hindi or English, make sure to send a copy of translated lyrics to help the jury reach a better verdict. This year the participants will be competing for not just recognition but also a cash prize of Rs. 60,000.

“TFA tends to reward music that explores new territory in the Indian music scene in the hope that the recognition and the cash award can help sustain it. The jury comprises individuals with plenty of music experience as well as an open ear for new sounds.”, said TFA in a statement on their website.

Open to all Indian nationals under the age of 30, the Toto Award for Music has previously been awarded to artists such as Prabh Deep, Disco Puppet, Peter Cat Recording Co., and Prateek Kuhad—whose latest EP released just a few days ago and had his subscriber list squealing with joy.

So if you have a couple of original compositions that you’ve been sitting on for a while, apply for The Toto Award for Music 2019. The deadline for applications is 20th August 2018.
