Sacred Games, Lust Stories & Radhika Apte Nominated At The International Emmys

Netflix’s first Indian original series Sacred Games has now been nominated for an International Emmy Award. This crime thriller has been picked up for the Best Drama category. Season one of Sacred Games directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikram Motwane is said to be competing against Brazil’s Contra Todos, Germany’s Bad Banks and UK’s McMafia, in which Sacred Game’s Nawazuddin Siddiqui also makes a cameo. Netflix’s Scared Games first got introduced to the screens and started streaming from July 6, 2018. Based on Vikram Chandra’s novel, the web series features Bollywood’s Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte as the main leads.

Radhika Apte also received the nomination of Best Actress for her performance in Lust Stories alongside Jenna Coleman (BBC’s The Cry), Marjorie Estiano (Brazil’s Sob Pressão) and Marina Gera in (Hungary’s Orok Tel). Lust stories directed by Karan Johar has been picked for Best Mini Series. Lust Stories is competing alongside Se Eu Fechar Os Olhos Agora (Brazil), Safe Harbour (Australia) and Trezor (Hungary) for the Best TV Movie/Mini Series.

Combining fiction and true events Sacred Game’s plot is centred around the depiction of a gangster Ganesh Gaitonde (Nazuddin Siddiqui), who provokes a police officer Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan), challenging him to save the City within the time frame of 25 days. The series then chronicles the events that take place in succession.

Lust Stories is an amalgamation of four stories which analyse relationships. Distributed by Neflix, it first premiered on June 15th, 2019. Featuring Radhika Apte, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Sanjay Kapoor, Neha Dhupia and many more. It showcases the trial and tribulations faced in a modern day setting. The series is a collaboration of popular Bollywood filmmakers like Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap. The tetrad previously coordinated together to create the 2013 anthology, Bombay Talkies. The award ceremony will take place on the 25th of November in New York City.
