Homegrown developed a questionnaire targeted towards a series of artists, wherein they could display their work, talk about their aspirations and freely discuss about their contributions and the projects dedicated to the public. More specially pivotal issues that still pervade within our country. Swirling together their desired framework, alongside their plans to collaborate with the government. Some of these projects are lighthearted and bubbly whereas, the others make for a deadly concoction with regard to some highly controversial dilemmas that still pervade ever so openly.
“If you could propose and lead a project with the Indian Government, what would it be?”
I.Rohan Mukherjee
27 year old, Rohan Mukherjee a Mumbai based artist who’s art digresses from the usual with his own personal yet hilarious touch in Kutte Ka Baccha explains his outtake on collaborating with the government - He yearns to decorate and rebrand. Rebrand neighbourhood salons, fruit juice stands and similar alleys dotted with your local grocery stores with vibrant, more livelier artwork. Making the surroundings exude liveliness through flourishing art and colouring otherwise mundane, monotonous and bleak walls that would solely be painted in plain old pastel shades of vanilla and cream. His true aspirations flirt with the thought of having desi designs delivered and freshly painted towards the likes of the local traders with absolutely no charges/additional fees.

II. Niveditaa Gupta
Delhi’s Niveditaa Gupta whose work revolves around photography and geometrical architecture, makes a rather intriguing point which goes on to showcase the animal instincts of the policy makers in the hope that it would eradicate or tone down their blatant inconsideration towards women evaluated crisis’. She yearns to click a series of primal pictures that raise sentiments towards the lack of rationality that their policies denote.

III. Zoya Chaudhary
Our country’s stature has always been diminished and been made to look uniform, despite all the diversity in cultures. Zoya Chaudhary, 37 year old artist based in Singapore, fears that people belonging to a certain community uphold the risk of being polarised if seen through a single lens, or after a certain story pervades. She yearns to propose and therein bank upon an empire comprising of writers, historians, artists, film makers and culturists to collaborate over a range of documentaries centred around documenting diverse regional groups, their languages, explaining their local histories and cultural background. In order to truly celebrate the diversity in India instead of imposing subjecting a single story/ narrative, and silencing the roles of all those who have contributed to this rich cultural fabric, by which our democracy has been woven through.

IV. Amara Ramdhanny
With the advent of dethroning fairness creams and other such products proclaiming to deliver fair skin within a short interval and other such negative racist connotations - Amara Ramdhanny an Indo-Carribean, whose artistry and expertise stretches within the ambit of interviewing and photography, yearns to paint an avid portrayal of realistic notions of beauty and not succumbing to the static, the ever stagnant white washed Bollywood beauty standards. To collaborate with the government on account of the multiple causes of racism and colorism – addressing the existing hierarchy and exposing the negative outcomes which also revolves around caste systems and dominant religious preferences. She craves to appeal to the masses, with regard to embracing their melanin rich culture and their pigmented canvas.

V. Archisman Misra
Archisman Misra’s aspiration is to push aside the various differences that pervade within the humane sphere, trivial differences that aren’t even worthy of being nitpicked on. His idea lies along the lines of coexisting perfectly, in utmost harmony. To achieve that, his true desires lie around creating a project that revolves around the idea of compassion, to teach people how to empathise. You may say that this is an overtly dystopian concept, but it has depth and makes an attempt towards eradicating frivolous technicalities that divide the masses.
